We have many enquiries for clarification of the cover position for loss of business income related to Covid-19. The position maintained by Covéa Insurance plc, the UK insurer of our Business Protection Standard and Business Protection Standard Plus policies is that these products do not provide any cover for Covid-19 related losses.

Having sought a detailed explanation of Covéa’s position, we have now formally challenged on their stance, and are awaiting a reply from their Central Underwriting and Legal teams.

We appreciate delay and uncertainty are both unwelcome in these already exceptionally difficult times, concluding the matter is our top Board priority. We cannot guarantee an outcome, will consider our next steps once we have the insurer’s response, and will keep this page updated with news.

At Balens, our emphasis is on helping our valued clients at all times, and particularly when they need us most.  We have set up systems and processes to ensure that where clients have questions relating to the Business Interruption cover, they are able to get these addressed.

  • Our Claims Manager will review all cases that require attention, particularly those that are not our Business Protection or Business Protection Standard Plus policies.
  • We understand that our clients may be unhappy with the fact that their policy may not respond in the way that they were hoping.  Any client that wishes to have their concerns addressed, to put in a note of dissatisfaction to the Insurers or to make a complaint regarding the policy, can be assured that that this will be looked at and responded to by a senior Team Member.  Please contact us at ComBus@balens.co.uk

  • As we have noted in other communications, most of our Team Members are now working from home, and whilst our commitment to our clients remains strong, this has impacted upon the speed of our usual service standards.  We ask that clients contact us by e-mail in the first instance to assist us in assisting you.
