Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work? 
Home design and interiors – my husband calls the house the Forth Bridge – updating never ends!

What book, film, or TV series would you recommend right now?  
Bridgerton (obviously) and This Is Our City. They couldn't be further apart, I love the variety! I am the same with music.

What’s three well known figures, you would invite to a dinner party?

Emily Pankhurst carved the future for women’s rights, Barack Obama, huge respect and Freddie Mercury – The level of talent and pure entertainment.

Are you a morning person or a night owl? 

I'm a night owl; give me good conversation and I’m in for the long haul.

What’s been your proudest moment at Balens so far? 

Working with the Commercial, Claims and Affinity teams in collaboration and drive towards One Ops.

What do you enjoy the most about your job? 
The team of people I have the privilege of working with; they are supportive, hardworking, knowledgeable, passionate, care about the policyholders and their colleagues with humour that keeps us all smiling. 

What's your job role? 
Technical Schemes Manager, and I'm responsible for underwriting, partnerships and product governance.

How long have you been at Balens?
17 years. Not to give my age away, but I joined at 21 thinking it would be a temporary role.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I have two daughters (4 and 2) and a dog who keep me very busy, so most of my time outside work is spent with them.

What book, film or TV series would you recommend right now?
I don’t often get a turn with the TV, so most of my screen time consists of Bluey, Peppa Pig and Gabby’s Dollhouse. On the rare occasion I do get control of the remote, I enjoy celebrity documentaries or any good bit of trashy reality TV.

Cher - absolute ICON
Britney Spears - so many questions…
Danny DeVito - guilty obsession

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Before kids I was a night owl. Now I’d say I’m a reluctant morning person.

What’s been your proudest moment at Balens so far?
There have been so many proud moments over the last 17 years, but the standout for me is seeing how our schemes area and long-term partnerships have grown and evolved, and knowing I’ve played a part in developing products and processes that genuinely support our clients and their members.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love the variety of my role and the opportunity to work with great people - both within the business and among our partners and customers.

No two days are the same, and I enjoy being involved in everything from underwriting decisions to developing partnerships and shaping products. I get a lot of satisfaction from collaborating with different teams to solve problems and improve what we do, and I really value the long-term relationships we build with our schemes and clients. Knowing that the work we do has a positive impact on practitioners and their members in the health and wellbeing sector is a big part of what keeps me motivated.
